Wreath Laying Ceremony at Seafarers’ Memorial

IMF Council Members paid homage to Indian Seafarers during the Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Seafarers’ Memorial at 0900 hrs on the 25th of February 2023. The Seafarers’ Memorial was built by the IMF in 1998 and is dedicated to all Indian Seafarers – naval, merchant naval, fishermen and others, who have lost their lives at sea in service of our nation. It also symbolizes our pride in the bounteous oceans washing India’s shores, and in all those who go to sea. The memorial is located at the junction of Gen Vaidya Marg and Ashoka Marg, near the Tribal Museum and the Circuit House.

The wreath–laying ceremony commenced with the reciting of the naval prayer. A wreath was then laid by Capt Anand Dixit, President of IMF followed by the two Vice Presidents Cmde A Chitnis and Capt R Hajarnavis. Other Council Members present were Cmde Rajan Vir, President Emeritus IMF (escorted by his daughter Naina), Cmde PK Malhotra, RAdm RJ Nadkarni, Capt Rabi Mishra, Capt Sunand Kanetkar, Mr Yezdi Batliwala and Cdr Mukund Yeolekar.
