Wreath Laying at Seafarers’ Memorial – 31 Jan 2026
IMF Council Members paid homage to Indian seafarers during the Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Seafarers’ Memorial at 0930 hrs on 31st Jan 2026. The Seafarers’ Memorial was built by the IMF in 1998 and is dedicated to all Indian Seafarers – naval, merchant naval, fishermen and others – who have lost their lives at sea in service of our nation. It also symbolizes our pride in the bounteous oceans washing India’s shores, and in all our mariners.
The wreath–laying ceremony commenced with the reciting of the seafarers’ prayer led by Cmde Ajay Chitnis, SC, NM, President IMF followed by the laying of the wreath. Other Council Members present were Cmde PK Malhotra, RAdm RJ Nadkarni, Capt Rabi Mishra, Capt Mukund Yeolekar and Dr Gopi Shetty.
