Remembrance Day 2015
IMF Members paid homage to the Seamen of World War I and World War II at the Seamen’s War Memorial at Bund Garden on 15 Nov 2015. Capt AK Bahl, President (Shipping), British Marine was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He said that the merchant navy contributes a major share in the GDP of the nation. He added that in recent years, threat to shipping had increased due to attacks of piracy and maritime terrorism. He also spoke of the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Govt of India, which he said would provide seamen ample opportunities to explore inland waters through initiatives such as Jal Vikas Marg and Sagarmala projects.
