Release of 10th Issue of Lighthouse
The Ocean Savers of India officially released the commemorative 10th Issue of their quarterly journal ‘Lighthouse’ at a formal event hosted at the Residency Club at 1900 hrs on 16th May 2015. Cmde Rajan Vir (retd), President Ocean Savers of India, RAdm PD Sharma (retd), President Rashtriya Life Saving Society India, Ms. Qaneez Sukhrani, Governing Secretary OSI, Smriti Chawla – Editor in Chief OSI, Chaitra Kachare sub-editor OSI and Karn Ragade – Vice President OSI were present on the occasion.
In his welcome address, Karn Ragade introduced all the members of OSI to the august audience. He also spoke of how the OSI had mooted the idea of a newsletter in 2012 and it was released as a 4 page black and white newsletter which had now transformed into a 32-page colour magazine. He credited this success to both the previous editorial team of OSI comprising Soumya Iyengar( then editor), Mihir Rao (then creative designer and now Associate Vice President OSI) and himself, as well as the current editorial team which included Smriti Chawla, Chaitra Kachare, Qaneez Sukhrani. Cmde Vir in his address spoke highly about how the young members of OSI have achieved a milestone. He mentioned that he was very proud that the OSI is the youth brigade of the IMF and that given the enthusiasm of the members the aim of making our people sea minded would be achieved. Smriti Chalwa and Qaneez Sukhrani also spoke of their journey with OSI. The evening was hosted by OSI’s youngest member Gaurav Khandelwal, while Secretary OSI Anjani Barrett proposed the Vote of Thanks. The event concluded with a sumptuous dinner.
