Presentation of Model of MV El Madina to IMF Maritime Museum by Mr Yezdi Batliwala
Mr Yezdi Batlwala, Council Member of the IMF presented a Model of MV El Madina to the IMF Maritime Museum Pune on the 10th of September. El Madina was carrying troops to Burma during the later part of the Second World War, when she was torpedoed and sunk by a Japanese Submarine. Large number of lives were lost as a result of this action. Yezdi’s father was serving on board as the Second Engineer, and was one of those who went down with the Ship. Yezdi had the model made and presented it to the museum as a loving memory of his late father. The IMF Maritime Museum is richer and grateful to Yezdi Batliwala for his generosity. The model will serve to perpetuate the memory of his father. Here are a few pictures taken on the occasion.
