Lecture by Capt Gajanan Karanjikar, President AIMPA

“Pilotage: Confluences between Master – Pilot and Ship – Port”

After a long period of inactivity caused by the cancellation of events on account of the Pandemic, it was decided to inject life into the IMF. Inspired by the successful conduct of the Annual WNC-NI-IMF Seminar as a Webinar in November 2020, it was decided to start a Lecture Series in an online format, inviting eminent speakers to speak on subjects of current maritime interest, and promote a professional debate amongst the maritime fraternity. Towards this end, we conducted our first lecture on the 12th of May 2021, and our speaker was Capt. Gajanan Karanjikar, President of the All-India Marine Pilots Association. In view of the Grounding of MV Ever Given, in the Suez Canal on the 23rd of March 2021, it was felt that the Master-Pilot relationship should be revisited, and hence the subject was chosen as, “Pilotage: Confluences between Master – Pilot, and Ship – Port”. The lecture was very well attended with over 80 participants logging in. The lecture was very well received and was followed by a lively Q/A session.
