IMF Annual Seminar 2016
“International Jointmanship in the Constabulary Role”
The IMF Annual Seminar was conducted at the Central Park Hotel, Pune on the 10th of December 2016.
Inaugural Session
Vice Admiral HCS Bisht AVSM, ADC, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief Eastern Naval Command, was the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker. Cmde Rajan Vir (Retd), President IMF welcomed all the delegates and Vice Admiral Vinod Pasricha PVSM,AVSM, NM (Retd) delivered the Inaugural Address.
Session I
Rear Admiral K. Mohanrao AVSM,VSM (Retd) was the Chairman and Moderator for the first session. The Speakers in the first Session were Rear Admiral Sudhir Pillai NM, Chief Instructor (Navy), Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Captain Sheldon Williams, Defence Attaché, Australian High Commission, Delhi and Brigadier Hemant Mahajan VSM (Retd), IMF Scholar (Coastal Security).
Session II
The Second Session was chaired by Vice Admiral SCS Bangara PVSM, AVSM,VSM. The speakers were Cmde Manish Sharma, Principal Director Foreign Cooperation, IHQ (Navy), Cdr Loic Bizot, Deputy Defence Attaché (Navy), Embassy of France, Delhi, DIG Donny Michael PTM, CSO (Operations), Coast Guard Headquarters Western Seaboard, Mumbai and Mr. Gautam Dutta, Senior Director Marketing Siemens PLM India.
The audience comprised of senior serving and retired officers from all three services, Academicians, Officers from the Mercantile Marine, Officers from NDA and INS Shivaji and Cadets from the Tolani Maritime Institute, Members of the Navy Foundation, Pune Chapter and the Indian Maritime Foundation. All assembled were witness to extremely well-researched and high-quality presentations from the speakers, adept handling of the incisive questions posed by the learned audience and very mature and meaningful moderations and summing up by the Moderators.
The occasion was also utilized to present prizes to the winners of the Global Warming Papers Competition organized by the IMF during July/August 2016. Lt Cdrs S. Chandra and Neerja Vardharajan, and Lt Sidhartha Iyer. Two Cadets from Tolani Maritime Institute were given Consolation Prizes.
Thus ended the 9th Seminar conducted by the Combined Study Group of the Indian Maritime Foundation comprising of Vice Admirals Vinod Pasricha and DSP Verma, ably assisted by Cmde Rajan Vir and Cdr Sati Taneja, with a lot of help from all IMF Council Members.
