Indian Maritime Foundation 25th Anniversary

The IMF was set up in December 1993 and completed 25 years last December. The 25th Anniversary was celebrated on the 14th of January 2019 at the Central Park Hotel, Pune. Admiral Arun Prakash PVSM, AVSM, Vr C (Retd.), Former Chief of the Naval Staff was the Chief Guest and delivered the Anniversary Lecture. The Title of his talk was “India’s Role in the Dynamic Indo-Pacific Scenario”.

Cmde Rajan Vir, President IMF welcomed all present and recounted the IMF journey briefly, highlighting some important aspects. Foreign Correspondents of Seagull were invited and it was great to have several of them amongst us, who had travelled from France, USA and New Zealand. Also present at the function were a galaxy of Senior Officers, both serving and retired from the Army, Air Force and the Navy. Members of the Navy Foundation and the IMF were also present in large numbers, It was a packed house.

The lecture itself was very absorbing and informative, and reflected the deep knowledge and clarity of thought of the speaker, The Admiral took on a clutch of questions at the end of his talk. Mr Yezdi Batliwala proposed the Vote of Thanks. Cmde Vir presented a Memento on behalf of the IMF to the Admiral. Cmde Chitnis was the Emcee and host for the evening. The lecture was followed by cutting of the Anniversary Cake and a delicious dinner.
