Release of 125th Edition of Seagull

The IMF reached another milestone, when it released the 125th Edition of its flagship ‘Seagull’ magazine on 17th May 2026. The magazine was instituted in 1994 by the visionary founder of the IMF, the late Cmde Rajan Vir with the late Capt ‘Reggie’ Gulati as its first Editor. When the first edition was released, both doubted whether they would actually be able to publish the second edition itself. But they did and the rest, as they say, is history.

The release of the 125th Edition was celebrated by IMF Council Members at a special function held at the RSAMI, Pune. On the occasion, the President IMF, Cmde Ajay Chitnis, SC, NM, paid tribute to all the former Editors who had maintained the high publication standards of the magazine throughout these years till the current day. Cmde Chitnis himself had taken over from Capt Gulati, before handing over to Capt Anand Dixit, who in turn had handed over to Capt Mukund Yeolekar, the present Editor.

The President also felicitated three special contributors to Seagull – Cmde CP Srivastava, Cmde Sanjay Tewari, and Capt Anil Gonsalves – whose high quality articles had regularly featured in previous editions.

Capt Yeolekar shared some insights into the entire process of putting together and proof reading all the articles from basic Word documents into a properly formatted magazine. He also thanked Ms Naina Delvis, daughter of the late Cmde Vir, who was responsible for designing the masthead cover of Seagull.
